This was the first meeting of the challenge coin project. The FFA students are really excited about starting 😊 They were given a challenge coin of their own letting them know they are appreciated and then 3 more to get started. On Feb 28 Ashley will go back to KSD to give them 2 more so they will have a total of 5 to give to people they choose. In the next 2 weeks they will choose the title of their program and that will give them the pathway to write the essay once they distribute coins.

The Central Appalachian Regional Education and Research Center is committed to relevant, transdisciplinary team science and the continuous translation of both research-to-practice and practice-to-research. CARERC’s research portfolio reflects our investigators’ collective years of success in:
Engaging stakeholders in collaborative, “catalyst” type projects aimed at understanding and addressing persistent and/or emerging safety and health problems in the workplace
Fostering the professional development and research skills of new investigators and junior faculty; (3) and testing innovative approaches that can be further used and evaluated in larger studies aimed at reducing or eliminating work-related injuries and deaths.
The CARERC pilot studies program aims to support between two and four worthy projects each year, depending on availability of funds, and focuses on regional and National Occupational Research Agenda (NORA) priorities..
